Expanded services in the RSC Westborough office are available for couples challenged by fertility who live in the metro-west area. Consultations are provided by Reproductive Endocrinologist Carla DiGirolamo, MD. Ultrasound monitoring is available onsite and phlebotomy services for RSC patients are provided next door at the UMass Memorial Medical Center Laboratory. The Reproductive Science Center of New England is the Massachusetts fertility authority and can help you find solutions to your fertility challenges.
Dr. DiGirolamo is a native of Milford, Massachusetts. “Living in and practicing as a fertility specialist in my hometown area is the best,” says Dr. DiGirolamo. “My father encouraged me to move back here to practice medicine and take care of the local community. I never thought I would do it. But, while I was practicing at Mass General, I realized that couples who need help with infertility are no different whether they are seen in Boston or at a practice 30 miles outside of the city. Helping people become parents was what I really wanted to do. To have the privilege to practice in my home area is a real bonus,” she explains.
Dr. DiGirolamo earned her medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine and completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Women and Infants’ Hospital in Providence, R.I. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and completed fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. While attending medical school, Dr. DiGirolamo also earned a PhD in molecular pathology from MCP-Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She has published extensively in the area of adult stem cell research and, more recently, has published on the mechanisms surrounding embryo implantation.
Dr. DiGirolamo’s clinical interests include the treatment of infertility using assisted reproductive technologies, recurrent pregnancy loss, and the molecular events surrounding embryo implantation. In addition to the Westborough office, Dr. DiGirolamo sees patients at RSC’s Milford and Lexington offices.
