RSC is prepared to offer a Health & Fertility program with a focus on Mind Body Medicine principles to address infertility. The program will be a collaboration with the renowned Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine based at Massachusetts General Hospital.
The Mind Body Program for Health and Fertility will be offered at RSC in Lexington, based on patient/community interest and will be provided through a clinical collaboration between the Reproductive Science Center of New England and the renowned Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine based at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
Cost for a 10-week program is $450. (Payable in advance and not covered by health insurance). Leslee Kagan, MS, Nurse Practitioner, will facilitate the program. Ms Kagan is Director of Women’s Health at the Benson-Henry Institute.
Clinical studies have shown the effectiveness of mind/body interventions on a range of medical conditions that are caused or made worse by stress such as hypertension, pain, and infertility, among others. Practicing the “relaxation response” daily can enhance the immune system and make one more resistant to the harmful effects of constant stress.
Participants will be instructed in the “relaxation response’, which includes breathing, imagery, yoga and other techniques. How to challenge negative thought patterns and embrace a more positive outlook is also emphasized with specific techniques. Ms Kagan will also provide up-to-date information about the impact of lifestyle behaviors on fertility.
Anyone interested in participating in a program is asked to contact RSC Patient Services at 800 858-4832.
