Interests and Fertility Treatment Philosophy
Dr. Pang believes in providing patients with accurate information so that they can make truly informed decisions about their treatment options. He is very methodical and pays attention to details to ensure that his patients are getting the best possible care. He has two sons who were conceived through IVF, so he is truly able to appreciate the process of IVF treatment from the patient's perspective as well as from the physician's perspective.
Dr Pang was the chief author of the 2011 revision to the Massachusetts Infertility Insurance Mandate. He is pictured at right with former Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis at the State House celebration for the passage of the mandate revision.
Dr. Pang has concerns about the high rate of multiple births that may result from fertility treatments, and the resultant high risk pregnancies which frequently result in premature births. He has long been a proponent of elective single embryo transfer in patients for whom this strategy is appropriate to increase the likelihood of safer pregnancies and the birth of healthy babies. Under his leadership, RSC New England has the highest rate of singleton births (84%) in Greater Boston, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. Dr. Pang sees patients in Lexington, Milford and Worcester, Massachusetts. RSC New England is also the first and only fertility center in New England to be recognized by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) for consistently following that organization's guidelines regarding embryo transfer numbers to achieve healthy pregnancies and the birth of healthy babies.
Dr. Pang is subspecialty Board Certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and has been the Medical Director at RSC New England since 2007 and is also the Medical Director of the Third Party Reproduction Program at RSC New England, which provides IVF for patients needing to use donor eggs and/or a gestational surrogate.
Dr. Pang completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto, Canada. He successfully completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the UCLA School of Medicine in California. Prior to joining RSC New England as the Associate Medical Director in 1993, Dr. Pang was Assistant Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California. He has also served as Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Deaconess Waltham Hospital.
Dr. Pang is a Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada, as well as a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners in the United States. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, as well as a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists. He was president of the New England Fertility Society in 2001. He has conducted research and has been published in the areas of menopause, infertility, assisted reproductive technologies and andrology, and has a special interest in the management of male infertility as well as third party reproductive options. He has been the Medical Director of the Egg Donation and Gestational Surrogacy Program at RSC since 1997.
