The Reproductive Science Center of New England (RSC) has a notable history of seeing fertility patients at the Milford Regional Medical Center (MRMC, at left). The following is a excerpt from testimonials about the RSC and MRMC collaborative relationship.
Many say that parenthood is the most difficult job in the world. For some, simply becoming parents is the first challenge on this journey. When Medway resident Cheryl MacNeil and her husband were unable to conceive a child three years after getting married, they started to worry. “We were both nervous,” Cheryl explained. “I kept thinking, ‘I’m letting him down.’” That was when they decided to take a friend’s recommendation and visit the Reproductive Science Center (RSC). “The morning of our initial consultation, we flipped on Fox 25 News and there was Samuel C. Pang, MD (the medical director of RSC). We sat and watched. When we realized our appointment was with Dr. Pang, we looked at each other and knew we were going to the right place.” For complete story:
Two RSC Reproductive Endocrinologists see patients in Milford, Dr. Samuel Pang and Dr. Carla DiGirolamo. In fact, Dr. DiGirolamo is a native of Milford. "My father encouraged me to move back to Milford to practice medicine and take care of the local community. I never thought I would do it. But, while I was practicing at Mass General, I realized that couples who need help with infertility are no different whether they are seen in Boston or at a practice 30 miles outside of the city. Helping people become parents was what I really wanted to do. To have the privilege to practice in my hometown is a real bonus,” she explains.
Dr. DiGirolamo earned her medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine and completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Women and Infants’ Hospital in Providence, R.I. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and completed fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. While attending medical school, Dr. DiGirolamo also earned a PhD in molecular pathology from MCP-Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She has published extensively in the area of adult stem cell research and, more recently, has published on the mechanisms surrounding embryo implantation.
Dr. DiGirolamo’s clinical interests include the treatment of infertility using assisted reproductive technologies, recurrent pregnancy loss, and the molecular events surrounding embryo implantation. In addition to the Milford,Dr. DiGirolamo sees patients at RSC’s Westborough and Lexington offices.
Meet Dr. Samuel Pang Dr. Pang is subspecialty board-certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Pang served his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Toronto, in Canada. He successfully completed a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the UCLA School of Medicine in California. Prior to joining RSC in 1993, Dr. Pang was assistant professor of gynecology and obstetrics at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California. He served as chief of obstetrics and gynecology at the Deaconess Waltham Hospital.
Dr. Pang is a Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada, as well as a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners in the United States. He was president of the Boston Fertility Society in 2001. He has conducted research and been published in the areas of menopause, infertility and andrology, and has a special interest in the management of male infertility. Dr. Pang is the medical director of RSC’s Egg Donation and Gestational Surrogacy Program, and sees patients in Lexington, MA and Milford, MA.
